AREAS OF EXPERTISE

Mulungu Realizações Culturais is a company based in Bahia, Brazil, committed to supporting the development of audiovisual and cultural projects that center original, diverse narratives with a strong sociocultural impact. Our work is rooted in Salvador and expands through the many voices that emerge from Bahia.

We are dedicated to promoting creative, author-driven stories envisioned and led by women, black people, and LGBTQIA+ individuals—stories that translate local experiences into narratives with global resonance. We believe that from Bahia, it is possible to tell the world’s stories—and it is in this belief that we ground our commitment: to amplify these voices, break through symbolic and geographical boundaries, and connect our stories to new territories, audiences, and markets.

With a trajectory marked by powerful collaborations, Mulungu has co-produced feature films such as Receba! (Pedro Perazzo and Rodrigo Luna), Menarca (Lara Carvalho), and the documentary Cais (Safira Moreira), which was selected for the Sundance Documentary Fund and had its international premiere at the Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG). Our productions have been featured in over 30 national and international festivals, including Tribeca, FICG, Olhar de Cinema, Chilemonos, CineBH, among others.

Currently, Mulungu Realizações Culturais is also co-producing Black Women on Routes to Freedom (Mulheres Negras em Rotas de Liberdade), by Urânia Munzanzu—a documentary filmed in Brazil and countries across the African continent, featuring Sueli Carneiro, Conceição Evaristo, Luedji Luna, Erica Malunguinho, Mirtes Renata, and Carla Akotirene.

We work in production, project management, and training, and we see our work as a political gesture of memory-making, transformation, and connection. That’s why we remain committed to reaching new territories and expanding the reach of the voices we represent—with roots in Bahia and a global vision.
